Heartwarming Charity – Canadian Mental Health Association

Mental health issues are on the rise. People are becoming more aware of the severity of mental health issues and are starting to speak up and seek assistance despite the stigma these problems have had in the past. Mental illness is not simply something people can “adjust to” or “get over”; it takes up our emotional, physical, and social energy and can affect the way we feel and act. Mental health is so important and that is why we love the Canadian Mental Health Association! Check out why this charity warms our hearts!

About this Charity:

“As the nationwide leader and champion for mental health, CMHA facilitates access to the resources people require to maintain and improve mental health and community integration, build resilience, and support recovery from mental illness.”

– Canadian Mental Health Association

The Canadian Mental Health Association is working to support Canadians with access to the information and assistance they need to help with mental illness. The organization provides support to 1.3 million Canadians and works to:

  • Create Awareness
According to the Canadian Mental Health Association website, mental illness will indirectly affect every single Canadian. That means in your lifetime, either yourself, a family member, or friend will experience some sort of mental health problem. It is for this reason that the CMHA works to further public awareness of mental illnesses. With greater access and understanding, people will have a better idea of how to approach it and help others.
  • Support
It is important that if someone is suffering from poor mental health that they receive appropriate assistance. CMHA wants to ensure that everyone gets the attention and assistance they require. It is why this organization offers connections to local community support services as well as offers a number of recovery-focused programs. These include ‘Not Myself Today,’ ‘Peer Support Canada,’ and ‘Workplace Mental Health’ programs and services which are available for all ages.

Why This Work is Heartwarming:

The Canadian Mental Health Association is sharing how important mental health is to our wellbeing. The more noise we raise about this issue, the more likely people will find the help they need. We benefit by:

  • Providing information and a voice to improve mental health
    • When we have a greater understanding of mental health we can help those around us. Encourage and love on the people you are close to by offering them the support and resources provided by CMHA.
  • A chance to improve mental health for Canadians
    • Did you know that mental health is connected to your heart? You have probably heard that if you have high blood pressure or heart problems you should reduce your stress levels. This also applies to your overall heart health. When we reduce our stress and anxiety, which are also mental health issues, we help our hearts! The better mental health we can achieve, the more likely our hearts will benefit also!

It all comes back to the heart, and that is why we support the Canadian Mental Health Association for their work in providing support for improved mental health. Strive for better your own state and you will also attain better heart health too! Additionally, speak up about mental health and support yourself and those around you.
