Heartwarming Charity – Mending Little Hearts

1 in 100 children are born with a congenital heart defect in Canada and about 90% of these children survive until adulthood. Living with a heart condition and watching your child live with a heart condition is challenging for the whole family. That is why Saskatchewan parents of children living with heart conditions developed the Mending Little Hearts fund. Created in partnership with the Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital Foundation of Saskatchewan, the Mending Little Hearts fund allows for direct donations to be made toward supporting children living with congenital heart disease in Saskatchewan. 

About this Charity:

Mending Little Hearts is dedicated to meeting the needs of children living with heart disease across the province of Saskatchewan. In 2016, Mending Little Hearts was developed when parents of children with congenital heart disease recognized a need for additional funding to help with equipment, research, and support. Mending Little Hearts has also become a reliable resource to answer questions families were having regarding living with and taking care of their child living with heart disease. 

How to Get Involved: 

There are many simple ways to support the fund:

• Donate: All donations support unmet needs of children living with heart conditions across Saskatchewan. 
• Little Hearts Family Group: This group, based in Saskatchewan, is made up of parents and families of children living with congenital heart disease. The group offers support, raises awareness, shares information and stories of hope, answers questions, and advocates for quality care for these children, and has for the past ten years. The group works with many other organizations, including Pediatric Cardiology, the Children’s Hospital Foundation of Saskatchewan, CHAMPS camp, the Western Canadian Children’s Heart Network, and more, to create a collective voice for congenital heart conditions. 
• Purchase to Support Families: There are other ways to support the charity by purchasing teddy bears, face masks, and jewelry. Proceeds from these purchases go to support families of the Mending Little Hearts Fund.
