Good health begins with proper and appropriate dental care. When dentists and dental office staff are equipped to handle medical emergencies, patients feel more at ease and are less likely to be nervous about dental procedures. This is why First Edition offers first aid training for your dental office.

Dentists must recertify their Basic Life Support first aid training yearly, and patients have come to expect that their dentists are equipped to handle any emergency during their stressful time. As a profession responsible for public health, dentists are front line medical staff!

AED’s for Dental Offices

Dental offices see a large number of patients – children, elderly, and sometimes those in poor health. Dentists often provide anesthesia or sedation as part of dental procedures. These procedures carry some risk for healthy patients, and elevated risk for others. Dental patients, for any reason, may become anxious (panic attack), allergic, and can unexpectedly go into cardiac arrest.

Dental first aid and CPR training is critical in this scenario, but that’s not all. Every dental office should have a Philips Heartstart AED (automatic external defibrillator) that is easily accessible as no one can be sure how a patient will react to anesthesia or other drugs.

Furthermore, Alberta dentists are now required to have an AED in their clinic – and for that reason, we have extended our Philips Onsite AED dental special.

Are you confident that your staff has the tools to respond to emergencies?

We are a Canadian Red Cross Training partner and we offer certified Basic Life Support (BSL) training including first aid and CPR/AED training for dental offices all over Calgary. All staff will learn how to remain calm in any situation, and learn what needs to be done when something goes wrong.

We make it easy for your dental office to provide training at your location. You and your colleagues will be able to learn together and support each other. A minimum of eight students is all that is needed.
